ELECTRIX AI 2027 Beta

WSCAD ELECTRIX AI 2027 offers many new features and improvements. These are listed on this page and, where possible, linked to the relevant topic.

New Features

• The new Comment Explorer (accessible via View | Additional Windows or Ctrl+Shift+I) displays all comments in the project in a tree structure. With a single click, you can jump to the comment location in the document. Comments can be filtered by their status (Red: Review / Yellow: Open / Green: Closed).
• In the Material Browser, you can open the Search/Replace dialog using the new Replace context menu command. The replacement is applied to all previously selected cells.
• Graphic elements, as well as standard and free style text, can be enabled as annotations via the Properties dialog box. You can toggle the visibility of the enabled elements on and off using the View | Annotation menu entry.
• In the Placeholder Browser, under “Sheet: General Information,” these new placeholders are available:
  Next document type, Previous document type, Next page in project, Previous page in project, Page index in project, Page index in subproject, Total number of subproject pages.
• The following new placeholders are available for reports to output values separately from their units, e.g., for transferring the values to an ERP system: “Quantity (value only),” “Length (value only),” “Plug: Cable Length (value only),” “Socket: Cable Length (value only),” and “Unit”.
• In the WSCAD settings under Cabinet | Show drill pattern for cut-to-length material, you can specify whether the drill holes and threads from the mounting pattern should be displayed on cabinet pages for cut-to-length material (DIN rails and cable ducts). If you check the Show only drill holes checkbox, only the holes to be drilled will be displayed.
• When creating a new page, you can now enter file content, description, and comment in multiple languages in the Create project page(s) dialog. When creating multiple pages, the fields are grayed out.
• The number of additional texts for a symbol has been increased from 100 to 200.
• The placeholder “Routing Tag” has been added to the wiring chart. The values are retrieved from the Routing Tag field in the properties dialog of the connections.
• In the wiring chart settings, filter options for symbol data were added.
• All placeholders from the PLC chart are also available for the function list, so that the PLC I/O information associated with a data point (channel address, ref. name, slot, rack, etc.) can be automatically transferred to the function list.
• When assigning a PLC child element to a PLC parent element, placeholders for the PLC rack and the PLC slot are no longer added automatically, even if values are available for them. But you can still add them manually.
• In the WSCAD settings under Symbol | PLC, you can assign a symbol to each PLC child element type in the Automatic Load table, depending on the selected norm.
  In addition, the “Create PLC element automatically” prompt can now be suppressed. When placing a PLC channel, the symbol type assigned in the table is used automatically.
• You can assign a custom symbol type to several selected PLC child elements.
• Symbols for the Electrical Engineering, Cabinet Engineering, and 1Pol Electrical Engineering disciplines can be saved in the Symbol Editor in accordance with the NFPA IEEE 315 norm.
• Even in closed projects, you can use the right mouse button to navigate between cross-references.
• While placing a copied selection of elements, the selection can be mirrored along the X and Y axes using the X and Y keys and rotated 90 degrees clockwise using the space bar.
• When pages are added to the project, the files are automatically renamed according to the specified naming convention:
  <folder_prefix>.<index>_<sub-page_suffix>.<file_type>,
  e.g., A1+P1_CAB.0001_03.wsCBD
• When inserting a symbol with a part via Insert | Part, the symbol remains attached to the mouse pointer and can be positioned again. The function can be canceled by right-clicking or pressing the Esc key.
• The structure of the project can be displayed in a structure list (*.wsSTL) using the defined structure identifiers such as “==”, “++”, “=”, and “+”. For each structure ID area, a description, comment, and PLM ID can be displayed.
• In the WSCAD settings under Symbol | Properties, you can configure that not only the EI properties but also the BA properties are displayed in the EE symbol’s Properties dialog.
• In the WSCAD settings under Building Automation | BA Plugin, you can save the configuration for the BKS_Open plugin and load a saved configuration.
• In the WSCAD settings under Master Data | Part, you can use the Select symbol norm drop-down list to specify which norm should be used when downloading symbols from wscaduniverse.com into the software.
• In the Project Wizard, after inserting a macro, you can view and insert all macros linked to that macro via the Linked macros tab.
  Linked macros can be linked in the macro’s properties dialog box via the Linked macros menu item, including, e.g. macros from other disciplines.
• In the post-processing panel, entries can be translated word for word via the context menu using artificial intelligence.

General

• Some parameters in the WSCAD settings have been prevented from being edited, and some functions have been prevented from being executed, because they are locked in the User Rights.
• When changing the color of bridge lines in the WSCAD settings under View | Color elements, the color will be applied to all existing bridge lines as well as any new ones.
• Cross-references from the parent element to the child elements also work when the child elements are arranged exactly one below the other.
• If the Cross-reference between plug and socket checkbox is enabled in the WSCAD settings under Symbol | Plug/Socket, cross-references will be displayed for all plug and socket contacts.
• Pages containing many SVG symbols are displayed quickly and in full, for example, when switching between pages or zooming.
• If a terminal strip consists of a standard terminal and a distributed terminal with terminal number 0, the standard terminal will correctly not be assigned the number of the distributed terminal once the central database has been built.
• In the Configuration for PLC Inputs and Outputs dialog box, the channel prefix can once again be set in multiple languages.
• When you insert a new page into a folder that already contains pages, the next available page number is suggested.
• In the post-editing panel, the AI translation is performed even if the lines to be translated are selected via the new language column only.
• If some entries are added to the blacklist in the post-editing panel after a translation, those entries will no longer appear in the post-editing panel after another translation run.
• In the Project Wizard, you can switch between the various discipline tabs without any issues.
• A page macro created from a page containing cross-references can be inserted and generated in the Project Wizard.
• After zooming to very high levels (>2600%), you can switch back to the entire page correctly.
• Different versions of WSCAD (e.g., 7.4 and 7.5) can be run simultaneously.

Placing elements

• Copying and pasting a selection containing many destination wiring elements has been made faster.
• All line styles defined in the Symbol Editor within a symbol are applied when placing the symbol.
• If you assign a slave element to a master element while holding down the Ctrl key, the assignment line will then be displayed correctly.
• If you cut a symbol and place it on another page, it will be deleted from the original page and cannot be restored using the Undo function.
• After placing auxiliary contacts on other pages, the contact combs are positioned on the contactors at the set location.
• When placing a symbol from the Material Explorer, all connection lines are displayed in the preview.
• If the placement of a copied symbol (with connection lines) is canceled, the connection lines remain connected to the copied symbol.
• If you have moved a contact comb, its position will remain even after the part was changed.

Structure areas and device boxes

• If a description and comment are displayed for a structure area, the text remains visible even if the structure area is moved or modified.
• In the properties of a structure area, the text position can be successfully set to Manual.

Macros

• In the properties dialog of a macro area, a separate ref. name placeholder can be defined for each discipline for linked symbols, e.g., for EE “-QB<#[QB_EE]>” and for CE “QB<#[QB_CE]>”.
• In the Macro Editor, the Swap Symbol function works correctly even for symbols that are not standard type.
• If a coil with an assigned part is loaded in the Macro Editor, a contact comb can be added via another part.

Explorers and Editors

• The filters set in the Edit Filter dialog of the Project Explorer are applied correctly, even if the filter is renamed in the process.
• Base part and additional parts of a combined part are displayed in full in the Material Explorer.
• If the Show Selection button is enabled in an Editor, the element selected in the menu tree remains highlighted in color and marked with an arrow in the document until another element is selected.
• In the Symbol Editor, you can open the PLC Channel Editor for a PLC element and edit the individual channels.
• In the Save As dialogs of the Symbol Editor, the context menus for Reference Name and Symbol Name have been adapted.
• If you create a new channel group for a PLC parent element in the Symbol Editor, you can set the channel step in the configuration dialog.
• If you leave the search field blank when using the Find & Replace function in the Material Browser or the Quick Editor, only the empty cells of the selection are taken into account.

Lists and Charts

• In the WSCAD settings under Reports, you can also set the number of decimal places for mm.
• When exporting the material list to Excel, you can also use an Excel template with multiple sheets. However, you can only export to the sheet that is formatted accordingly.
• If you filter function texts using the not-equal-to operator in the filter dialog of the material list, the function texts that do not contain an entry are also listed.
• Not used cable wires (virtual) are listed in the cable chart, regardless of whether filters are used or not.
• The WAGO ProServe entry has been removed from the output list in the terminal chart configuration, as WAGO ProServe has been replaced by the online tool WAGO Smart Designer.
• In the wiring chart, the sorting by cross-sections is performed alphanumerically, depending on the values entered in the placeholder.

Import and Export

• Graphical elements such as circles are rendered with the specified line weight during PDF export.
• When printing the project or single pages, the selected printer is saved for the next print job.
• For imported DWG files, all elements on the visible layers are included in the export.
• The new setting Select symbol norm from database (under Tools | Settings (Options) | Symbol) is also applied to an imported project that does not yet contain this setting.

Part Management

• When you enter a search term in the search field of the Part Management, the results are displayed in a drop-down list. Selecting a result immediately filters the part list.
• If you run a database check in Part Management, the PartSymbols table can now be included in the check instead of the outdated BibSymb table.
• In a network project with an SQL Server part database configured, the Material Explorer now lists all elements more quickly.
• Saving a project with a configured SQLite or SQL Server part database has been sped up.

Interfaces

• The AML file for the TIA software is exported using UTF-8 character encoding, not UTF-8 BOM.

Module BA (Building Automation)

• In the BA Quick Select toolbar, all inactive icons are clearly visible even in the “Light” color scheme.
• Multi-edit changes to BA symbols in the Quick Editor are retained after updating the data points/info links.

Module CE (Cabinet Engineering)

• In a macro template project, the frame of a macro area on a CE page is not obscured by DIN rails or cable ducts, even after, for example, the cabinet and mounting plate have been deleted.
